Redmond West
Little League is expanding
to include baseball for teenagers age 13-18.
Prior to this year, children in Redmond
could play Little League baseball only through age 12,
at which point they joined other programs such as RBA or
Pony League. This year, however, the volunteers of RBA
opted to discontinue their affiliation with Babe Ruth
baseball.
These volunteers are now joining
Redmond West Little
League and
Redmond North Little League to offer teenagers
the opportunity to play Juniors
(13-14-year-olds), Seniors (14-16-year-olds), and
Big League (16-18-year-olds) baseball against
teams from Bellevue West, Bellevue Thunderbird, Kirkland
National, Sno-Valley North, Snoqualmie Valley, and
Woodinville.
The "Big Field" at Hartman Park will
continue to serve as "home" for recreational baseball
for 13-18-year-old players from the Redmond community.
The program will be managed by
Redmond West Little
League in partnership with
Redmond North Little
League, much the same as the two leagues have
cooperated in providing youth softball to the Redmond
community in recent years. With this expansion, the
volunteers who make baseball possible for our area youth
will now combine their efforts into a single integrated
program that will better transition players beyond the
"Majors" experience of Little League baseball.
